How our dogs changed our lives
I was never a dog person- they seemed like a lot of work, money, and responsibility, so when my husband continually brought up the idea of adopting one, I balked for years. One day, we decided to browse an adoption website and came across a 12 week old, 30 lb. Bernese Mountain Dog mix that had been found wandering about in rural Minnesota. We drove 2 hours to visit the shelter that same day, and when Charger waddled into our room and immediately peed on the floor, he wheedled his way into our hearts forever.
Fast forward two years later, and my idea for these leashes came on one of the many mornings when I was trying out a new hands-free running leash. I had been excitedly waiting for the latest one to come in the mail after the previous 5 not working for a variety of reasons, so I was already slightly disappointed when I pulled it out of the package and it seemed so heavy (and for no legitimate reason I could identify).
During my run with the newest leash, I was driven crazy by the excess length swinging against my leg the whole time. I started thinking about all of the things that I own that are extremely well built, but still managed to be light, and realized for a lot of these items, the cost was prohibitive. I knew that if I developed my own jogging leash, I wanted it to be reasonably priced so almost anyone could afford one. When I got home, I told my husband about my idea and that I wanted to start exploring if this was something I could actually pull off, and voila! Run Blue Doggy was born!
