Shipping Information
Packages are shipped the following day after labels are printed. Please understand that once the package is dropped off, delays in track information and ship time is out of our control. USPS has been experience a unprecedented amount of volume due to the pandemic and tracking information may or may not be updated until it gets transferred to their main distribution center. We have talked to officials at our local post office and that was the reason we were given for missing tracking information. If for some reason your package still hasn't arrived or have tracking info updated after 7 business days, please contact us.
What is PETG and why we print with it
PETG is a very strong and very tough thermoplastic commonly used in food containers such as soda and water bottles. It is also recyclable.
Printing PETG, although much more difficult that PLA, provides much more strength, temperature tolerance and chemical tolerance to our products that come into contact with food and the dishwasher.
More information can be found at: https://www.acmeplastics.com/what-is-petg
What is wrong with PLA?
PLA is great thermoplastic when strength and temperature tolerance isn't an issue. It is extremely easy to print, which is why most people that start out 3D printing use it. It's basically "easymode" for 3D printing.
Unfortunately, "easymode" comes at a cost. It is much weaker than the other thermoplastics utilized in 3D printing, such as PETG, ABS, PC and Nylon. PLA will soften even in the sun. It is also much more permeable than PETG, making food application and contact more dangerous. It is more brittle and has poorer layer adhesion. Basically it's very weak compared to the other thermoplastics. We will never offer any of our products in PLA. We feel that it is an inferior plastic for our applications.
What is ABS and why we print with it
ABS is an extremely tough industrial glade plastic found in pretty much nearly everything. LEGOs for example is ABS, and we all know how tough it is.
ABS however is not food safe, so our products that are meant for food contact are printed strictly with PETG on its own dedicated printers.
Many of our other functional parts, parts that see abuse, will be printed in ABS.
With this toughness and temperature resistance, comes difficulty with printing. ABS is extremely difficult to print. Printers need to print at very high temperature and enclosed, preferably with a heated chamber. These printers have to be TOUGH to withstand hours printing in a chamber at 70-80c. We have these printers in our printer farm.
Why can't you ship outside the US?
Potential ITAR. Better safe than sorry.
