Detrás de cada mueble hay una pasión por el oficio. No empecé a fabricar estas mesas para competir con las cadenas de montaje de producción en masa ni con los muebles pintados en fábrica. Empecé porque creo que los objetos con los que convivimos deben tener alma, carácter y una historia propia.

Mi aventura comenzó hace más de veinte años, cuando compré una casa nueva. Con el deseo de que el espacio se sintiera realmente como un hogar, decidí probar suerte construyendo muebles a medida. Reuní una modesta colección de herramientas —aunque debo admitir que ya no es tan modesta— y comencé a aprender el arte de crear muebles de alta calidad desde cero. Lo que empezó como un proyecto práctico se convirtió en una obsesión de por vida por este oficio. Durante las últimas dos décadas, me he dedicado a dominar los matices de la madera, el diseño y la construcción, evolucionando desde aquellos primeros muebles a medida hasta las piezas especializadas que creo hoy.

En el camino, me enamoré profundamente del diseño moderno de mediados de siglo. Hay algo increíblemente impactante en las líneas limpias, las formas orgánicas y la elegancia minimalista de esa época. Una de mis mayores influencias en el diseño es el legendario maestro ebanista Sam Maloof. Aunque nunca tuve la oportunidad de conocerlo antes de su fallecimiento, su filosofía marcó profundamente mi visión de lo que puede ser el mobiliario. Al vivir y trabajar no muy lejos de su histórica casa y taller, he tenido el privilegio de visitarlos en varias ocasiones. Mi respeto por su legado es absoluto. Sus diseños son impecables, su sentido de la proporción perfecta es inigualable y su habilidad para hacer que las líneas rectas fluyan orgánicamente es un estándar al que aspiro constantemente en mi propio trabajo.

Ese estilo orgánico y fluido combina a la perfección con mi material favorito: el nogal. Me encanta todo de él. Visualmente, aporta un color intenso y un brillo natural inconfundible a cualquier habitación. Desde la perspectiva de un artesano, se trabaja de maravilla. Tiene la dureza ideal: no se resiste a las herramientas como el arce duro como una roca, pero mantiene el filo de forma excelente, a diferencia del pino blando. Incluso desprende un aroma delicioso al cortarlo y darle forma en el taller. Y lo más importante, admite un acabado como ninguna otra madera del mundo.

Cada pieza que sale de mi taller está hecha completamente a mano por mí, una a una. Pongo una parte de mí en cada creación. Desde la selección de la madera hasta el meticuloso y laborioso proceso de aplicar a mano cinco capas de aceite, no tomo atajos. Requiere mucho tiempo, pero cuando contemplas el brillo suave y natural de la madera terminada, el resultado habla por sí solo. Para mí, esto no es solo un negocio; son más de veinte años de pasión, paciencia y experiencia en el taller plasmados en arte funcional, diseñado para formar parte de tu hogar durante mucho tiempo.

Behind every piece of furniture is a passion for the craft. I didn't start making these tables to compete with mass-produced assembly lines or factory-sprayed furniture. I started because I believe that the objects we live with should have soul, character, and a story of their own.

My journey began over twenty years ago when I bought a new house. Wanting to make the space truly feel like home, I decided to try my hand at building some custom built-in furniture. I put together a modest collection of tools—though I have to admit, that collection isn't so modest anymore—and began learning the art of creating fine furniture from scratch. What started as a practical project turned into a lifelong obsession with the craft. Over the last two decades, I have dedicated myself to mastering the nuances of wood, design, and construction, evolving from those early built-ins to the specialized pieces I create today.

Along the way, I fell deeply in love with mid-century modern design. There is something incredibly striking about the clean lines, organic shapes, and minimalist elegance of that era. One of my greatest design influences is the legendary master woodworker Sam Maloof. Although I never had the opportunity to meet him before he passed, his philosophy profoundly shaped my view of what furniture can be. Living and working not too far from his historic home and workshop, I've had the privilege of visiting his home and shop a number of times. My respect for his legacy is absolute. His designs are flawless, his eye for perfect proportion is unmatched, and his ability to make hard lines flow organically is a standard I constantly strive toward in my own work.

That organic fluid style pairs beautifully with my favorite material: walnut. I love everything about it. Visually, it brings an awesome, rich color and an unmistakable natural glow to a room. From a craftsman's perspective, it machines beautifully. It sits at the perfect sweet spot of hardness—it doesn't fight your tools like rock-hard maple, yet it holds an edge beautifully unlike soft pine. It even smells lovely when it is being cut and shaped in the shop. Most importantly, it takes a finish like no other wood on earth.

Every single piece that leaves my workshop is entirely handmade by me, one at a time. I put a piece of myself into every build. From selecting the wood to the meticulous, time-consuming process of hand-applying five separate coats of oil, I don't take shortcuts. It takes a significant amount of time, but when you look down at the smooth, natural sheen of the finished wood, the results speak for themselves. This isn't just a business for me; it is twenty plus years of passion, patience, and workshop experience built into functional art that is meant to be a part of your home for a very long time.
