Creating is in my genes. My paternal grandmother made doll clothes, stuffed rabbits, porcelain dolls, and all of my prom dresses. My mom sewed her own clothes as a teen then made dance costumes and Barbie clothes when I came along. My dad built our family home and is a master of origami money rings.

As a kid I colored our coffee table, spent hours drawing Garfield, gave Barbies new hairstyles, and customized My Little Ponies with Sharpie. My preteen years were spent painting miniature masterpieces on press-on nails, DIYing one of a kind underwear, and upcycling my maternal grandmother’s jewelry. I started sewing felt creatures after I graduated college.

My first business, Something Monumental, began developing in 2006. It focused on photography and eventually shifted to jewelry. My work was featured in magazines and on popular websites.

In 2019, I changed paths. My business became Planet Gloom, and the product was posable felt dolls. The first doll for sale was Lydia Deetz from the Beetlejuice cartoon. My initial objective was to offer dolls of hard to find characters from the 80s and 90s. Now I concentrate on original characters. Each doll is designed, hand sewn, and painted by me.

In my free time, I volunteer at my local animal shelter as a dog walker. I have three rescue dogs of my own. I lost my soul dog in November 2023, and I have been making felt dogs to help heal my heart.
