Welcome to SRJ Ceramics, a small pottery studio dedicated to crafting functional, wheel-thrown pieces inspired by the beauty of Earth and Sky. Each piece reflects my lifelong fascination with natural elements—an interest rooted in childhood memories of geodes and rocks displayed in my family’s home.

Guided by my passion for Earth Sciences, particularly geology and astronomy, I seek inspiration in landscapes, constellations, timber, and stone formations. These explorations shape my work, bringing unique, nature-inspired designs to life. Through techniques like wheel throwing, carving, and incorporating aged timber, I create one-of-a-kind vessels that capture the essence of the natural world.

Spencer is a studio potter and designer based in Rochester, Minnesota, originally from Sartell. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from Minnesota State University Moorhead, he graduated Cum Laude in 2017, specializing in Illustration and Ceramics. Spencer initially set out to be an illustrator but soon discovered a deep passion for clay, launching him into the world of ceramics. After graduating, he quickly established his own studio, SRJ Ceramics, and has since exhibited his work across the United States, from gallery shows to art festivals.

His professional journey includes a UX/UI Design Certificate from the University of Minnesota, a testament to his dedication to both functional and visual design. Spencer also teaches pottery at several art centers, sharing his love for the craft with students of all levels. His achievements include the 2022 SEMAC Emerging Artist Grant and features in publications like "Design & Living Magazine."

When he's not in the studio, Spencer enjoys time with family and friends, exploring new crafts, or playing board games. Whether he's teaching, creating, or collaborating, Spencer brings a passion for art and design to every project he undertakes.
