Hi, I’m Elaine Sanderson – a lifelong creator, marathon runner, mom of three, and the heart behind SandersonsGarage. Together with my husband Jim, a lifelong car guy, drag racer, and all-around fixer-of-everything, we’ve built this shop to share our love of classic cars, vintage style, and meaningful handmade items with you.
Our story began over 30 years ago at a printing company where I worked in the front office and Jim was a pressman. We barely knew each other back then – just a quick exchange as I picked up press sheets. Years later, after life led us both through the ups and downs of marriage, parenting, and personal growth, we reconnected – this time over coffee and running shoes.
Jim was fascinated that I could run marathons, and I helped him train for his first one. That’s how it started – miles of pavement, hours of conversation, and a shared passion for endurance and perseverance. We’ve now completed countless races together, including marathons and triathlons, and in 2022, we finally said “I do” in a small ceremony on Lake George surrounded by our children and closest friends.
SandersonsGarage is born from that same love, energy, and drive. Jim’s prized 1964 Impala inspired my first custom t-shirt design, which got a lot of attention at the local drag strip. That spark turned into an idea, and now, here we are – offering custom automotive-inspired t-shirts, mugs, hats, and unique novelty gifts that celebrate classic cars and timeless style.
Every piece in our shop is designed with creativity and care. I still paint and handcraft many items, just like I did at Forest Valley Trading – so to my loyal customers: yes, I’m still here, and yes, I’m still doing what I love.
