Hi my name is Tori and I love pottery painting. I love it so much that during a long career break to stay at home with my children I would regularly visit a local pottery painting studio with friends to attend their “ladies nights”. We would take drinks and nibbles, and relax for a couple of hours chatting and painting. After quite a few years of this, I amassed such a big collection of pottery pieces at home that my husband made a joke about having to sell them to cover the costs of my “pottery addiction”.

A flippant comment it may have been for him, but it was a lightbulb moment for me, because with both children now in full time school I had been considering my return to work. The trouble was that office work as a PA just didn’t appeal in the same way anymore, and the thought of returning to that life filled me with huge disappointment. But was my husband onto something? Could I run my own business? After what felt like an age with the pandemic delaying my plans, Sandown Studio was born, along with the realisation of bringing my dreams of being a professional artist to life.

So here I am, “giving it a go”. Hoping that people will love my pieces enough to want to own them, and hoping I can sell enough to buy the kiln my husband has promised me I can have if it’s a success…I really want that kiln.
