I have been buying these vests from Sarah Winter for about 10 years now. I wear one almost every day, so I have had to replace them (although they are very rugged). They are really well made and very nice to look at. I just bought two more, and I was very pleased.

Very nice skirt! Linen material has a lovely hand. Details of the sewing are exemplary! Generously sized with capacious pockets. Thanks so much!

It starts with 3 ingredients: Textiles, Ingenuity and a Commitment to Fairness.
I consider myself part of a world of textile workers. I hold the history of my profession in mind when I sew. I never forget that there are people in the world working the same trade as me, and yet they are undervalued and often enslaved. I believe that it doesn't have to be that way.
I believe a person in the United States can manufacture at a boutique level and provide the American consumer with reasonably priced, quality goods. I strive to produce a product that provides satisfaction and balance for both you and me. Let no human being be undervalued.
I run Clothworks from our home. I have 3 sewing machines, a large dedicated room with cutting table, washer, dryer and sink.
I have been in business for over 30 years. I have lived and worked in NYC manufacturing from a small apartment that held not only me and my husband, but also machines, tables, fabric, tools and patterns!
I have made custom clothing, put out a catalogue and sold at music festivals. I taught costuming and was a costumer. I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology and learned patternmaking. I have lived a life rich in creativity.
Today I live in Connecticut and work from my home. I chose fabrics and methods for our childrens' future. Hemp, Wool, Linen and Organic Cotton. I wish to leave this world a better place. I look forward to sharing this with you.

I learned to sew from my mom when I was 7. We made matching mother-daughter dresses . The funny thing was, she never liked to sew. Yet she gave the gift to me. I love her for that. I'm in my 50s now and have spent many years learning my trade.
I designs, make the pattern and sew. I dye the fabric and cut the pattern.
I honor the old ways and value a well made product.
