Foraging for Finds, Cultivating Contentment and Living a Good Life
My time living in and visiting Scandinavia was formative. I deeply appreciate and try to model my own life on Scandinavian values - simplicity, lots of time in nature, movement, beauty, good design, living within my means and the planet's limits, embracing the need for community and solitude in equal measure, investing in wholesome, ethically-sourced, sustainably grown food, and in choosing well crafted, often handmade, always beautiful, unfussy 'things' for my home that cultivate coziness - things like the nature-inspired tableware, tea towels, sweaters, books, arts and crafts that you find at Scandihaven.
I enjoy foraging for the finds offered in my shop almost as much as I enjoy foraging for berries in the mountains near to my home! Though many of the items I sell at Scandihaven are made in one of the four Nordic countries, other items are inspired by Scandinavian design and made elsewhere (often Japan), and still other items are offered simply because they evoke the quality, simplicity, natural beauty and/or delight that I associate with life in Scandinavia. I hope that when you purchase something from Scandihaven, it will bring you joy and help in a modest way to cultivate contentment for you and for others.
