Scentability Handcrafts all things Bath, Body and Home Fragrance in small batches!
Scentability was officially established in June of 2009. Starting out with just one size of handmade lotion, I have now expanded to dozens of bath and body products and home fragrance items, along with carrying accessories to go with the products! Each item is handmade by me, in my Workshop. Many of my fragrances and many of my products have come about by suggestions/special requests of friends, family and customers. I always welcome suggestions, requests, comments, compliments, etc.!
Let's see.....a little about myself and how Scentability came to be: I am a Registered Nurse by training, and I had resigned my nursing position in 2012 to focus on growing and nurturing Scentability. I have three beautiful kids: 20 year-old twins: Patrick and Andrew, and 18 year-old, Mikey.
I came to Wisconsin from Columbus Georgia, where I was a Labor and Delivery nurse. Dealing with dry and cracked hands from such frequent handwashing in my job, it was hard to find a decent lotion that would moisturize my hands enough not to be dry again five minutes later, yet not be too greasy to carry out my job. A coworker shared a recipe for hand lotion with us at work one day back in 2001 and I fell in love with it! I made this lotion for myself and friends and family in small batches using name brand, retail supplies from 2001 until 2009, when, at the urging of my co-workers, I decided to make it in larger batches, using wholesale bulk supplies and started to sell it to them! And Scentability was unofficially begun!
Scentability relocated from the Manitowoc WI area to the beautiful Northwoods of Tomahawk Wisconsin in 2012, and a longtime dream came true in September of 2013, when Scentability & Friends opened, my Brick and mortar storefront in downtown Tomahawk! My workshop is located inside the storefront, and from the window inside the shop, you can watch the creation of many products! I also am proud to be able to network with many talented Artisans from across the United States and have many other products for purchase from them in the store also! What a wonderful setting to be able to create for you!!
Now that the kiddoes have graduated high school, I have also returned to work as a labor and delivery nurse full time in Rhinelander WI. (I have 3 kids to put through college!) But, never fear! Scentability will remain around, hoping to keep the storefront alive and well until ‘retirement’ from nursing in ~10 years, so I can continue ‘playing’ in retirement!!
I have been a member of The Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild since 2010, and was honored to be appointed to their Board of Directors in 2014! In May of 2014, I was awarded the HSCG Volunteer of the Year Award! I was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Tomahawk Area Chamber of Commerce for 9 years, 2014-2023. I was elected to membership of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists in June 2014 also!
