The history of Scissaroo
I love wool! Every time a see someone in a beautiful wool sweater, I think about shrinking it down to make wool felt...okay, maybe not every time. ;)
My love with wool began when I saw an adorable penny rug at an antique store. It wasn't an antique penny rug, but was still cute, and its image was filed away in my head. About a year later, I started thinking about that rug and did some research online. I really liked what I saw! I loved the history of the penny rug, and I liked that I can carry on the tradition of reusing scraps to make something beautiful to decorate my home. I got some wool felt scraps and made a penny rug potholder. It wasn't very pretty, but I learned from it, and made a bunch more penny rugs.
I try to use reclaimed materials whenever I can. I scour thrift shops, garage sales, and any other place I can think of to find materials. I even have family members on the lookout for materials. My relatively un-crafty husband can pick out a wool sweater by feel! I like to think that I taught him this skill, but I think he developed it on his own to get us out of thrift stores in a reasonable amount of time.
I love working with wool felt. I am constantly developing new ideas for items, so check back often! Thanks!
