Creating Clothing Designs as Unique as their Personalities
Let's see....where do I start. Well, I started sewing back when I was about 8 years old. I found an old green Singer sewing machine hidden away in the back of my mother's closet. I begged my mother to let me try it out and, she obliged. I taught myself how to sew on that old machine and started making my own dolly clothes. I still have my very first dolly dress that I ever made. Can you believe that? I'm not going to say exactly how old it is, but we'll just leave it at "it's old", lol. I developed a love for sewing and expanded on that passion in high school economics classes, where I had my first official sewing instruction. I began designing and making my own clothes in high school, and yes, I'm pretty sure I've still got a few of my favorite pieces tucked away in a tote in my attic. What can I say, I'm a sentimental person....or a pack rat, lol. After high school, life got a little busy with work and college and I had to direct my focus to other things for awhile, so my sewing passion was put on hold. After college, and running at IT company among many other things for many years, I decided to give my new found left brain self a rest, and switched back over to my natural right brained passions and got back into sewing. I studied more about sewing and garment design and expanded into learning embroidery and later pattern design. After working as a pattern designer for several years, I decided to open my boutique and focus less on the mathematics of pattern making and more on art and creativity behind the design and color coordination of garment making. I then made my business official. I am a lover of art - all forms of it. I am a lover of creativity - all kinds of it. I am a perfectionist, and I am passionate about what I do. I love every single second of my job. Thank you for reading my story! I hope you'll stay awhile!! <3 Kimberly
