I'm Michelle, the owner of Pisces Pixie Apparel. First and foremost, I am a single mother of three wonderful kids, two of which are adult age and one that is still in elementary school. Yes, I started all over! I have a very supportive partner who is a talented glass artist and fellow creative. He helps me pack up all my goodies and vends with me so if you see us in the wild come say hi!
My beginning in textiles began with sewing troll clothes when I was just seven years old. As an adult I taught myself to crochet when I was dealing with some very traumatic things in life. This was over a decade ago and I was in need of a new hobby. This was my first time as an adult really digging into the textile world. A few years later, inspired by the work of other seamstresses, I asked my parents for a sewing machine for Christmas. Then in 2019 before the pandemic a friend showed me how to tie-dye some items for my family. I was immediately in love with the surprises that awaited each time a new piece was dyed. I immersed myself in the tie dye and sewing world, learning as much as I can from other people, the internet, and books.
Then the pandemic happened. All of a sudden I had a lot of extra time on my hands to practice my craft. I decided to combine my love of sewing and tie dye and make masks once school was out. This was how SeaChelle's Textiles, my original business, was born. From there I began getting requests for all sorts of custom pieces and SeaChelle's Textiles just kept growing. I closed SeaChelle's Textiles and opened Pisces Pixie Apparel after I divorced a partner who nearly brought me to the end of my life. I closed SeaChelle's Textiles (named after his nickname for me so it HAD to go) and took a hiatus from creating. I rebuild everything by myself and I could not be happier. Now I have my own blank apparel business for dyers called Pisces Pixie Apparel Blanks for Dyers and am getting ready to open up a new line called Pisces Pixie Bebe- a line of organic baby clothes. The name Pisces Pixie came from the fact that my partner and my best friend are also Pisces and I fancy myself a magical fairy in my dreamy world I live in.
My kimonos are still the darling of my business. They are a favorite among dyers and fashionistas alike. They are the first item that pushed me towards the goal of a sustainable fashion brand, made with organic and eco friendly materials .. They are designed, sewn, batiked, and dyed by the Pisces Pixie, herself (me) so they are entirely handmade. Please reach out if you have any questions.
