5 out of 5 starsI wanted to retrofit my Dad's 1939 Silvertone 6230 so that we could enjoy it with our own music. I loved the idea that Seagull Electronic's kit would allow us to retain the use of the radio's original knobs for on/off, volume, and tone. We received the kit very quickly from Barry, along with a nice message and an offer to help us troubleshoot if we needed it. Instructions and how-to video were easy to follow. We ended up replacing the original "magic eye" tuner vacuum tube with an eye cast in green resin and backlit with a light included with the kit. It doesn't look exactly like the original, but I think it does the trick! I'm so happy we could give the radio a new life, and also preserve the original "guts" should anyone ever want to restore the 1939 electronics. Thank you!

5 out of 5 starsI LOVE THIS PRODUCT!! There is no hyperbole in that statement. I am truly giddy. I am now listing to the "The Hermit" OTR out of a RCA Victor 6K2 just like i stepped back in time. I could not be happier!! The installation was easy and straight forward. Had I not had to teach myself soldering along with way, it took me a few hours. The instructions were clear, and Mr. Dorr is incredibility responsive either to emails, texts, or phone calls. He is VERY patient and helpful. If you want to restore an old radio, this is THE kit to buy!! Get the custom paring option, as it is very cool to see the radio pop up as a Bluetooth device. Seriously, I could not recommend this project or Mr. Dorr enough!!!

Shipping was amazingly fast, very well packed, everything was there, and in perfect condition. This may be the best experience I have had on Etsy. I would recommend this, I would recommend this company, for anyone trying to Bluetooth an old radio this would be a must have.

Does the retrofit work with antique field coil speakers?
No, you need a 4 or 8 Ohm speaker. Sources are provided in the instructions. We recommend cutting an adapter plate from 3/8" plywood so the new speaker can use the original speaker's mounting holes.
The listing shows a large radio with lots of room. Can I retrofit a smaller table model?
Yes, You can place the retrofit and the power supply above the radio chassis. You can also limit audio power to 2 Watts. The instructions provide the mechanical dimensions of the PCB and power supply.
I haven't restored a radio before. Do I have the skills?
You don't have to be an electronics or radio expert to do the retrofit. You just need to be able to use hand tools, solder wires, and read a wiring diagram. Go to our website: (https://seagullelectronickits.com/) where you can see a video showing all the steps. If this the first radio you've worked on, consider the Potentiometer and Wiring Kit. It has nearly all the hardware you may need. If you need help, contact us and we'll support you.
Is the DC Power Supply included with the kit?
Yes, but the AC power cord is not. Any computer or monitor power cord can be used.
I have an empty cabinet with no chassis. Can I install the retrofit?
Yes. The Potentiometer and Wiring Kit includes an on/off/volume potentiometer and a tone potentiometer. It also includes mounting plates and screws so you can mount them in the cabinet. It also includes light bulbs and sockets so you can have dial lights. Our video (https://youtu.be/UbzPoQOoIzY) shows a few more tricks for working with an empty cabinet.
