How does it all start...
As long as I can remember, I’ve loved collecting — and I’ve loved fine china. To me, owning china wasn’t just about entertaining; it was about creating a space of intention and elegance. Each piece carried history, personality, and possibility.
The only issue was: how do you choose? And why choose just one pattern?
That question began a lifelong journey of collecting.
As a young adult, I hosted dinner parties where every guest received an eclectic mix — appetizer plate from one set, dinner plate from another, dessert plate from somewhere entirely different. It was curated but never rigid. If something broke, it wasn’t a tragedy — it was an invitation. The hunt would begin again, searching for the perfect replacement, or perhaps something even better.
Collecting china became less about perfection and more about discovery — about layering stories, blending eras, and creating beauty in the unexpected.
With the rise of recycling and repurposing, my hobby of collecting evolved into something more — a way to reimagine vintage china beyond the dining table.
What once hosted dinner parties now holds garden flowers. Teacups have become centerpieces and stories to be told. Plates transform into tiered trays. Pieces once separated by pattern or era now come together in unexpected harmony.
Collecting taught me that beauty doesn’t have to match — it just must belong.
And so, I bring to you 2nd Chance to Dish — a celebration of mixing and matching, of giving forgotten pieces new purpose, and of creating charm where others might only see fragility.
Each piece carries a past.
Each pairing creates something new.
And each arrangement invites you to share in the excitement of what can be when you blend elegance, imagination, and a little bit of history.
