Segundo Milagro
Fate has joined you and your handmade altar of active prayer together.
In Spanish, the word milagro (also known as an ex-voto or dijes or sayings) translates to “miracle” or “surprise.” Milagros are small, Mexican religious folk charms, normally cast from metal, which the faithful believe are endowed with spiritual or magical powers for healing and for helping restore and preserve well-being and balance in their lives, or the lives of those for whom they pray. Milagros are frequently attached to altars, shrines, and sacred objects found in places of worship as thanks for a prayer granted. These charms, however, may also represent a petitioned prayer, hope, wish, or just a granted one. People also carry milagros as amulets for protection, to ward off evil, to cure a physical ailment or bring about a change of fortune.
Although the use of these artifacts of faith predominantly find their roots in Catholicism, which adopted the custom in an effort to link Christianity to the “pagan” beliefs of the indigenous Indians, their symbolism transcends mainstream religion and lends itself more to the nondenominational category of holy or sacred.
Each milagro may be representative of the personal life lessons one hopes to work on, symbolic of intention, a petition for a miracle, or an act of thanks to your higher power for blessings already received. They may also act as amulets for protection or simply a reminder to offer thanks. The exact meaning of each milagro is only known to the individual and the higher power with whom (s)he wishes to communicate. Milagros are a bridge between the magical and the spiritual, the pagan and the traditional, intention and manifestation.

Now returned [temporarily, mind you] from South of the Rio, I not only conjure handmade altars of active prayer, but also mismanage a gentleman's ranch of 7 acres while earnestly embracing my latest manifestation of Zsa Zsa Gabor a la Green Acres. PLEASE distract me from this latter endeavor!
