All about handmade. That's us!
Art, to me is a catalog of all my travels and stays around the world. I like to fuse inspirations that I have gathered from my journeys and replicate them in my art. As a result, what you’ll see is a lot of variety in the subjects that I choose, the colors that I use and even in the style of painting. This aids the purpose of my art, which is to appeal to people beyond boundaries. I wish to create something that brings happiness and sheer joy to a person’s everyday life.
Traditional form of painting has been a part of my life since I was a kid. Being a self-taught artist, I had to experiment a lot and have now grown to like acrylics and mixed media more than any other medium. Although, I do occasionally paint with watercolors and ink.
Painting on glassware came to me at a later stage of my life. It was a stained-glass church window that lit that initial spark in me. I looked at the way it reacted to the sunlight falling upon it and I was fascinated to see how a stationary piece could gain movement with light. I wondered if I could create that same magic in my art. I picked wine glasses as my base as I knew wine glasses could become part of a person’s everyday life. My initial designs were a bit crude as it takes a while to tame your hand to be steady enough to do such detailed work. I started with just henna-like designs, which I was quite familiar with, thanks to my Indian origin, and then moved on to stained glass style designs. The more designs I added to my collection, the more functional my art became. Soon, it stopped being just a decorative item and became a part of a bride and groom’s toasting moment, a photograph of a group of bridesmaids, a holiday gift list or a conversation at a home party. It has taken me some time to grow as an artist. I hope that the love and care I put into each piece I hand-paint is received well and appreciated.
