I am obsessed with Stained Glass.
I started my shop in 2009 after years of working in stained glass repair, reclamation, and design. I started repairing English antique stained glass windows in the basement of my mentor's shop. I learned all about leading, glass cutting and grouting and framing antique windows.
I then moved onto an antique salvage company run by a master glass artist where I learned about the history of stained glass and even more techniques that were used over the centuries in the production of stained glass. I was active in the reclamation of antique stained glass windows out of homes, churches and commercial spaces. I would then repair the windows for resale.
In that time I realized that the art that I wanted to create with glass was limited by the lead came, the strips of lead between the glass pieces. I moved onto mosaic which replaces the lead with grout and allows for smaller, more intricate pieces to be used.
Each piece I make is a challenge. I can see in my minds eye what I want it to look like and I push the limit of the glass and my fingertips to create as close as I can to what I want. Luckily I have never been able to make it exactly as I see in my mind so I keep pushing with the techniques, tips and tricks I've acquired over the years. No one makes stained glass like I do and I'm still striving to make it the way I see it.
