Somehow, I Ended Up Drawing Flowers for a Living
I never imagined that one day I would be drawing flowers for a living.
For years, creativity was something that quietly existed in the background of my life. After leaving the corporate world, I found myself returning to it, and during the pandemic, I picked up my pens and began drawing flowers. One flower became another, then another — and somewhere along the way, what started as a quiet creative outlet became the little floral art business I have today.
I’m a self-taught artist based in Singapore, and I still love working with the simplest of tools: fineliner pens, my iPad, and an endless fascination with flowers. I’m drawn to delicate lines, little botanical details, and the quiet beauty found in nature.
What I love most, though, are the stories behind the flowers I’m asked to draw. A birth flower for someone you love. A bouquet that brings together a family. A flower that holds a memory. Knowing that something I drew may become a tattoo, a keepsake, or simply a little piece of art in someone’s life makes this work especially meaningful to me.
These days, you’ll usually find me at home with a pen in hand, drawing yet another flower — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
