About

Welcome and thank you for visiting SewAsItWasPatterns !

I have been collecting vintage patterns for many years, I have always loved the elegant pictures on the envelopes. I have been surrounded by sewing most of my life. My mother was a sewer, my mother in law was a seamstress for a high end fashion house in Melbourne and my great uncle was a gentleman’s tailor in Sydney.

Through their love of sewing I have developed a love and appreciation of beautifully designed vintage clothing and patterns. I get such a thrill finding and saving vintage patterns for future sewers & for prosperity.

Over the course of many years I have amassed quite a collection.
Etsy has enabled me to share what I have collected with like-minded sewers, collectors and vintage fashion enthusiasts.

I am also Proud to be a Member of PATTERN PATTER TEAM, An Association of Professional Pattern Sellers.

Shop policies

All the patterns for sale have been thoroughly checked for completeness, their conditions are noted in the descriptions and any anomalies are detailed.

If there are any missing or re-drafted pieces, this is also described.

Used pattern pieces are neatly re-folded with the utmost of care.

As with many vintage patterns and envelopes, they may have age marks, expected wear and tear, which is to be expected.

I scan and retain an image of the packaged pattern and the postal receipt as proof of postage.
