SewFlo

Siempre me fascinó dirigir mi propia pequeña tienda y finalmente estaba lista para dar el salto. Así que en 2013, SewFlo comenzó en la sala de estar de la casa de mi infancia en el sur de la Florida. Originalmente creamos artículos para bebés hechos a mano, luego contenedores de almacenamiento, y luego encontramos nuestro espacio en la comunidad de fibra. Durante seis años, cosimos bolsos y accesorios para tejedores y ganchillos en estampados de nicho geek. SewFlo ofreció golosinas en línea, en ferias fuera del estado, ¡y también vendimos en convenciones geek en toda Florida!

En marzo de 2019, puse esta empresa en pausa cuando comencé a explorar otras vías, pero nada hizo clic como lo hizo SewFlo. Durante este tiempo, me sentí atraído por leer sobre temas holísticos y metafísicos, desde la mitología hasta la meditación, los cristales curativos y similares. La biblioteca pública se convirtió rápidamente en mi nuevo destino favorito, ya que peinaba pilas de libros en poco tiempo. Estaba muy fascinado por cualquier cosa y todo lo que investigaba en esta área temática. Simplemente no pude obtener suficiente información y muchas de las prácticas sobre las que leí se convirtieron en una nueva forma de vida para mí. Luego, en marzo de 2020, recibí una llamada solicitando que creara fundas de máscaras de tela para mi tía que las necesitaba desesperadamente para los turnos de su enfermera. Rápidamente le cosí tantas máscaras como pude, a lo que luego insistió en que las vendiera en línea. Inmediatamente tuve una reacción de "he estado allí, hecho eso", pero gracias a su aliento, publiqué mis máscaras hechas a mano en la tienda. Al empaquetar esa primera máscara para el envío, sentí esa chispa especial nuevamente.

A todos los que compráis una mascarilla o dos o incluso diez, os lo agradecemos. Os agradecemos vuestro apoyo y os decimos gracias con el saber que cada mascarilla nos ha dado la oportunidad de comenzar nuestra nueva aventura de SEWFLO Maravillas Metafísicas.

I was always fascinated with running my very own little shop and I was finally ready to take the leap. So back in 2013, SewFlo began in the living room of my childhood home of South Florida. We originally created handmade baby items, then storage bins, and then we found our space in the fiber community. For six years, we sewed bags and accessories for Knitters and Crocheters in geeky niche prints. SewFlo offered goodies online, at out of state fairs, and we vended at geeky conventions throughout Florida too!

In March of 2019, I put this venture on pause as I began exploring other avenues, but nothing quite clicked like SewFlo did. During this time, I became attracted to reading about holistic and metaphysical topics from mythology to meditation to healing crystals and the like. The public library quickly became my new favorite destination as I would comb through stacks of books in no time. I was highly fascinated by anything and everything I researched in this subject area. I just could not get enough information and many of the practices I read about became a new way of life for me. Then in March of 2020 I received a call requesting I create fabric mask covers for my aunt who desperately needed them for her nurse’s shifts. I quickly sewed her as many masks as I could to which she then insisted I sell them online. I immediately had a “been there, done that” reaction, but thanks to her encouragement, I posted my handmade masks to the shop. Through packaging up that very first mask for shipment, I felt that special spark again.

To all of you who purchased a mask or two or even ten, we thank you. We thank you for your support and we say thank you with the knowledge of knowing each mask has granted us the opportunity to begin our new adventure of SEWFLO Metaphysical Wonders.
