Design and desire both change in your thirties:)
I have been a crafter and designer all my life! I love to make beautiful items from simple pieces and to refashion other items for new purposes. Gift-giving has always been a passion and I am looking for new and beautiful things to make for my family and friends every year. I think that giving something that is handmade is a wonderful way to tell someone how much you care for them. The love that is put into each piece tells a story of art, color, creativity, passion and life. It was made by "ME." Nothing says "I love you!" like that:) Everyone always asks me where I buy my gifts for them and when I tell them that I made it they are amazed. That makes me feel so appreciated. I love my family and friends, it is because of them that I ventured into selling my handmade items on Etsy.
During the "day" I wear a teacher's hat. Teaching always inspires my creativity. My students think in ways that I would never dream and their thoughts and ideas push me in the creative world. I think of new ways to sew an apron together, or to refashion a pattern that I like to make it work better for me. Children have an innocence and unblinded emotion that can recharge even the deadest battery. I feel so alive standing in front of them and showing them new ways to solve math problems or another way to read a book and learn something exciting! My motto in class is..."Always more, never less!" That is a motto I take into my Etsy business.
In the evening I am a "mom-mom" to two amazing sons. Each is an inspiration and ecnourager in their own light. My six-year-old tells me each day that he loves my work and that my sewing is amazing! He lights up my creative juices. We run to the local fabric shop and he helps me choose fabrics, thread, zippers, yarn and buttons. My two-year-old makes sure I see the humor in life and learn lessons that teach me patience. He likes to tell me, "Mom-mom, eyes on you!" Which means...I have my eyes on you. Lord, he makes me laugh so hard!!!
To be creative I have to be so many people and wear so many different life hats. I am truly blessed to have the ability to wear these hats and define myself as the person I am today (which won't be the person I will be tomorrow)!
I truly try to earn the right each day to live for tomorrow!
