Frequently asked questions

Does your Free Shipping offer include shipments to Canada?

Free Shipping on orders over $35 only applies to shipments to the US, including PO, APO, and FPO addresses. Unfortunately, the cost to ship to Canada makes it impossible to cover the cost of shipping. For example, a 3-ounce item going to the US costs around $5 to mail but over $16 USD for the same item to go to Canada.

Do you accept returns on fabric?

Yes, as long as it has not been used or otherwise damaged. Contact me for a return label and as soon as I get it back, I will promptly issue a refund. I do not put returned fabric back into stock but will pre-wash it and use for quilts or other craft projects.

Why does it cost so much for shipping?

I use the US Postal Service for shipments because it is more convenient than using UPS, and the cost is typically less. Postage is calculated based on the combined shipping weight of all items when checking out. Etsy offers discounted postage and I use those discounted rates instead of the USPS's retail/counter rates. If the calculated postage exceeds what it actually costs to ship your order, I refund the difference. Actual transit times and postage rates are beyond my control - I commit to shipping on time by the most cost-effective means and providing tracking information for your order.

Tracking says my order was delivered but I did not get it, what do I do?

Let me know through Etsy that you didn't get it. Then please contact your local post office to report a missing package. It is very difficult for me to do that remotely. That should initiate a search. If a package tracking says "delivered," Etsy's buyer protection will not refund your order, nor will it cover the cost of me shipping out a replacement. The USPS will not cover packages that have a destination scan completed, even if you don't have it. If you suspect theft, please report to your local police department and to your local postmaster.

What is your shipping schedule?

Orders received between midnight and noon Eastern Time will ship the same day. Orders arriving after noon will ship the following business day. Our shop policy is to ship within 1 business day - this does not include Saturday, Sunday, or holidays observed by the US Postal Service. We pack up everything and take it directly to our local post office to be scanned into the system around 2:00 PM.

What does BTHY mean?

BTHY stands for "By The Half Yard" and means the fabric is priced by the Half Yard. If you need a full yard, you would order 2 (Half Yards). Your fabric would be cut as a full yard. If you ordered 4, it would be cut as 2 full yards. Since Etsy doesn't allow purchasing in decimal or fractional quantities, many sellers use this method so customers who only need a small quantity don't have to purchase a full yard. Maybe Etsy will evolve to make it possible to purchase fabric like you would in your favorite quilt shop - 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 of a yard, etc. But for now, fabric sellers are trying to make it work, without having to purchase more fanric than you need.
