About

Who is Marina?

Training as a couture dressmaker in Germany in the 80's and completing an honours degree in Design & Technology at Bath University/ England, started a career spanning decades in textile production and teaching. Along the way I worked with inspirational designers like Carol Waller from 'No walking Canvas' and English Eccentrics, delivering high end fashion collections, sorting out pattern problems and coming up with new ideas for construction. A highlight was working with Sue Nichols a fabulous costumier and a true inspiration, sewing costumes for Madame Tussaud's in London for some years. When my son was born, I needed a less time consuming area of work so I picked up teaching again and taught Textiles/ Product Design to youngsters from 11-18. After a long time in the classroom I decided to move on to adult teaching as this gave me more freedom to develop projects. By chance I found a downloadable pattern and immediately thought how great these would be for my courses. Unfortunately they were multi size which is a problem when the space you teach in isn't big enough to accommodate the assembly of the patterns. So I drafted my first PDF pattern, all sizes in individual files and easy to distribute to my students. As they are like craft patterns, with handy attachment lines the smallest space was enough to cut out and assemble. And from there it grew into then selling these patterns. Today I teach mostly online with over 270 video instructions for techniques and of cause all the patterns.

Personal note:

2015 started with my big USA adventure. I moved to Los Angeles, added some boys clothing to my collection and am ready for more. I would be delighted if you joined my sewing group too, so we get to meet!

So watch this space and thank you for reading to the end.
