Shadow Island Design and Vintage

I started collecting vintage clothing when I moved to LA in 2006.
I love the construction, the fabrics, the details and the craft work involved in the making of vintage garments.
Much like a sturdy chair that you've had in the family for generations, a good piece of vintage clothing can withstand the test of time and trends alike.
I look for unique, one of a kind, beautiful, weird, magical and reliable pieces. I love to find vintage California labels and occasionally come across some designer and special labels.
I also have a liking to denim, leather and motorcycle affiliated pieces.
I've traveled twice across the US to buy for the shop so I try to include where the item comes from.
I also went back to school in 2013 and attended LATTC in Los Angeles to study pattern making and design. I am a seamstress and I love making garments from existing materials.
I use vintage sourced fabrics and deadstock fabrics to recreate some of my favorite vintage silhouettes. I also take custom wedding and special occasion clients
