Nací en Australia, el país que adoro y donde vivo, hija de padres australianos. Mi madre quería que tuviera un nombre francés. No tenía ni idea de por qué. Pero en cuanto oí su idioma por primera vez, me enamoré de su sonido. En cuanto vi fotos de París por primera vez, me enamoré de la ciudad. Nació un romance para toda la vida... y mi astuta madre, de alguna manera, lo supo cuando me puso nombre.
De joven, ¡me encantaba dibujar! Me pasaba horas dibujando, y eso no ha cambiado mucho. Era lógico que, con el tiempo, encontrara inspiración en los preciosos cafés, pastelerías y floristerías de París cuando empecé a ilustrar.
Mi trabajo a veces también me lleva a Italia. Y, con bastante frecuencia, mi querida compañera Ella, ahora una gata British Shorthair negra de avanzada edad, se cuela sigilosamente en mi delicado mundo ilustrado en tonos pastel (y probablemente siempre lo hará).
He intentado usar herramientas digitales para dibujar y, sinceramente, he fracasado. Para mí, no hay nada como la sensación de los bolígrafos, lápices y acuarelas reales sobre el suave papel de algodón. Así es como sigo creando.
Luego escaneo la obra de arte para crear el archivo digital a partir del cual se imprime cada hermosa lámina. Cada lámina está hecha para durar toda la vida (solo necesita enmarcarla correctamente y colgarla lejos de la luz directa intensa) y se imprime bajo pedido; no mantengo inventario. De esta manera, se envía directamente desde los especialistas en impresión artística hasta usted para minimizar el transporte y la manipulación, y reducir al máximo el impacto ambiental.
Cada vez que una de mis obras de arte encuentra un nuevo hogar, me alegra enormemente haber conmovido a alguien y haber capturado su imaginación. Si este es tu caso, ¡gracias y espero que te encante!
When I was born to Australian parents in Australia - the country I adore and where I live - my mother wanted me to have a French name. She had no idea why. But when I first heard their language, I fell in love with the sound. When I first saw pictures of Paris, I fell in love with the city. A lifelong romance was born ... and my clever mum somehow knew when she named me.
Also when I was young, I loved drawing! I happily sat drawing for hours on end. Not a lot has changed! And it was only natural that in time, I would find inspiration in the beautiful cafes, patisseries and flower shops in Paris when I came to illustrating.
My work sometimes wanders to Italy, too. And more often than not, my beloved companion Ella, now a very senior black British Shorthair, stealthily sneaks into my delicate pastel-coloured illustrated world (and probably always will).
I have tried to use digital tools for drawing and unapologetically failed. For me, there is nothing like the feel of real pens, pencils and watercolour on brushes moving over smooth cotton rag watercolour paper, So that's how I continue to create.
Then I scan the artwork to create the digital file from which each lovely fine art print is made. Each print is made to last a lifetime (just frame properly and hang away from direct strong light) and printed to order - I don't hold inventory. Then it goes directly from the fine art print specialists to you to minimise transit and handling and keep as light a footprint as can be on our planet.
