Para mí, hecho a mano significa diseño orgánico inspirado y arraigado en la naturaleza: patrones pintados a mano, en crecimiento y evolución, a veces accidentales y congelados en el tiempo. Me inspira cómo la luz ilumina y crea infinitos tonos, en seda iridiscente o vidrio. Los colores crean estados de ánimo y sus combinaciones cuentan historias.
Formado como pintor en RISD, me mudé a San Francisco cuando era un joven artista y descubrí que vender artesanías que hacía en ferias callejeras era una forma increíblemente divertida de pagar el alquiler. Mis creaciones fueron recogidas por boutiques y galerías, ahora en expansión a nivel nacional. Si está visitando galerías en Asheville, N.C., visite Gallery of The Mountain y si está de vacaciones en Cape Cod, visite Sail Away Studio en Wareham. Mi estudio está construido en la casa, a las afueras de Boston, comparto con mi esposo y mis dos hijos pequeños, que a veces se sientan a mi lado y hacen sus propias creaciones mientras pinto bufandas.
For me, handmade means organic design inspired by and rooted in nature — hand-painted patterns, growing and evolving, sometimes accidental and frozen in time. I am inspired by how light illuminates and creates infinite hues, in iridescent silk or glass. Colors create moods and their combinations tell stories.
Trained as a painter at RISD, I moved to San Francisco as a young artist and found selling crafts I made at street fairs to be an incredibly fun way to pay the rent. My studio is built in the home, outside Boston, I share with my husband and two young children, who sometimes sit beside me and make their own creations while I am painting scarves.
