Wooden kokeshi dolls from the kokeshi's homeland of Miyagi in Tohoku, Japan.
We are mainly handling Sakunami style Kokeshi, some original Kokeshi from active craftsmen in the other place and some vintage kokeshi doll and some daruma dolls.
In Tohoku area of Japan, there is wooden doll, which are called ‘KOKESHI’, it has been making over 150 years.
There are 11 styles, which are called traditional kokeshi (Dento kokeshi in Japanese). In Miyagi prefecture where Shin Crafts is located, there are 4 styles, which are Sakunami, Naruko, Yajiro and Togatta.
Kokeshi has histories and stories during long years also between the masters and apprentices.
