Eating Disorder Recovery & Mental Health Awareness Jewelry
Thanks for visiting my shop!
My name is Rachel and I am the jewelry designer and owner of The Shiny Dimes Collection by Rachel Schmitz Jewelry. My inspirational and personalized jewelry collection focuses on offering words of encouragement for those coping with mental illness, grief and loss or everyday struggles; and also making sure to celebrate the joys of life as well.
I want to be able to combine my minimalist jewelry designs with these small reminders and glimpses of hope that you can wear on your wrist or near your heart.
I began making jewelry as a way to cope with my own struggles with anxiety and depression. The process of making jewelry is a way for me to channel my anxiety into something creative and positive. My hope is to end the stigma of mental illness and suicide through open and honest communication.
As an advocate for mental health awareness, a portion of my profits are donated to mental health organizations that are close to my heart: the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA.org) and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP.org).
Thanks for supporting The Shiny Dimes Collection and mental health awareness.
<3,
Rachel

The meaning behind the name "Shiny Dimes":
Ever find a random shiny dime in an odd place? Many people attribute finding shiny dimes as a spiritual sign or a little hello from a deceased loved one. My husband lost his younger brother Jon to suicide in 2005 and his family started noticing shiny dimes popping up in random places, usually at times when they were really missing and thinking of Jon. I even remember finding one on the day I went into labor with my son, who's middle name is Jonathan, after his Uncle Jon.
