Frequently asked questions

Does Shizen Cha have any retail locations?

Shizen Cha is currently an e-commerce retailer. You can place your orders directly from our online store or find us on ETSY.

How should I store my tea?

Tea leaves are a delicate food. Temperature, humidity, oxygen, and light may damage the taste or aroma of tea. Therefore, it is important to move tea leaves into an airtight container once you open the tea leaves. Similar to coffee beans and spices, loose leaf tea and tea powder do not necessarily "expire" but tend to lose their original freshness over time. Therefore most loose leaf teas have a shelf life of one year un-opened and should be consumed within 6 months after opening. Matcha should be consumed within 2 weeks upon opening as the matcha powder will be exposed to air and undergo oxidation.

We also recommend storing loose leaf teas away from highly fragrant foods such as spices, herbs or coffee.

What are your tea pouches made of?

Shizen's tea pouches are either made out of Japanese Washi Paper of BPA free plastic.

Where are your tea's harvested?

All of our green teas are harvested in Japan by local tea harvesters. They are all true grown from regions with heritage farmers and harvested in a traditional method.

Are your loose leaf teas allergen/gluten/dairy free?

All loose leaf teas listed on Shizen are gluten/dairy-free.
