I have had a sewing room most of my life that has always been, my space. I started at about the age of 7 when my parents bought me my first sewing machine. My sewing space back then was in my closet, my private creating area. My poor mom could not keep a white pillow case in the house.... I made dolls out of them. I gave them away to every girl that I knew. I loved the look on their face when I gave them something "I Made". That was the beginning. Mom and dad always supported me and encouraged me. I continued, I did not stop. I re-designed patterns in home economic sewing classes even though I knew I was not suppose to, but I was so creative and wanted to express myself. I have always made things that pop into my head, many times during the night. My grandma taught me how to make a pattern, if I needed one, out of newspaper. I do believe I have only bought a few in my lifetime. Some have been given to me but I did not use them.
I was needing to get back to having some fun in my life while holding down a 40 hour per week job that can be very stressful. It finally hit me to get into my sewing room, something that gave me so much comfort in the past and start CREATING. My sewing room is full of not only my sewing supplies but special mementos and pictures of my whole family, including my husband and daughter who have always been on my side in anything that I wanted to do, so I started creating.
This has been a turn around for me. I made a few items and started looking for someplace to sell my creations.
I found Etsy and that is where my creating started flowing. I come home to sew, create and list my items on Etsy. It has a calming effect. I have met so many great people through the teams I am on and people who have purchased from me. I love sharing thoughts and ideas with all that I have become acquainted with.
What I am so impressed with is the talent that is found on Etsy.
So many wonderful artists, crafters and so many unbelievably wonderful items they make. I am so proud to be a part of that. I have been having so much fun since I started my shop here on Etsy! I have ventured out and made things that I have not made before and I am having a blast creating and showing what I have to sell. Ideas come to me at the strangest times so I keep a note book with me so I can draw what idea has popped into my mind. I have many things yet to come so I hope you will continue to check back and see what new items I will be adding from time to time. I recently retired due to health issues so I now enjoy my love of creating even more!
Most of the items I make are unique because I have either used my homemade pattern or because I have personally chosen the fabrics and colors to make each item different, there are no two items that are exactly the same.
