My name is Habanero (they call me Nero for short) and I'm a 5-year old pup from Peru! I was born on the streets of Cusco where I happily played with my other stray friends and lived off food scraps from the kind locals, until one day I was hit by a car. it did a LOT of damage to my rear end. A woman found me and took me to a local vet, who scammed her for hundreds of dollars and dumped me back on the streets. A couple of weeks later, the same woman found me again! This time she drove me an hour away to a rescue ran by a very kind vet named Fabrizio. Fabrizio decided that surgery would be too invasive as my body had already been doing it's best to heal, so he helped me relearn to walk as best as I could and today I'm able to run and play just like I used to!

One day while living at the shelter, a nice girl showed up and moved in with us Her name is Ellie and she instantly fell in love with me. Ellie realized that I wasn't doing my best at the shelter (I had a lot of allergies and my tummy constantly hurt, plus I needed some extra help with my back legs) and so she decided to take me to a place called Michigan with her! I said goodbye to all of my dog friends at the shelter and we spent the next 5 days on buses, planes, & automobiles.

Now I've been living in America for 3 years and Ellie takes the very best care of me! We go for long walks, I eat fancy dog food, and I have so many bandanas so that I always look dapper! I think a lot about the friends I left behind in Peru, so Ellie suggested we do something to help them out. I learned to sew (I know, a dog who can sew?? Crazy!) and learned how to use the Internet, and now I run this Etsy Shop where a portion of proceeds from every bandana sale goes back to help my dog friends in Peru receive the food & medical care they need.
