Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

PRE SEASONED
Your board was moisturized with 100% food safe oil before shipping so it may arrive a bit oily so that you do not have to go through the hassle of treating the wood. Please simply clean the board and enjoy cooking.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Hand wash with a cleaning sponge and soapy water after each use, and dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. Always wash both sides of the board to prevent swelling and warping. Then, wipe down the board and let it dry thoroughly overnight, standing it on an edge so that both sides are facing out.

Care instructions

MAINTAINING THE BOARD
We recommend oiling your board at least once a month with food safe mineral oil or any cooking oil. Just drizzle and apply oil in an even layer over the wood and let the oil soak into the board for at least 3 hours. When finished, simply wash it and dry.

RECONDITIONING THE BOARD
All wooden boards will get scratch marks from knives. The marks are a sign that the board isn’t severely dulling your cutlery. Depending on your usage, you may want to recondition your board by simply buffing out the scratches to a smooth surface with fine sandpaper and finish it with food safe oil.

Care instructions

TEAK WOOD SETTLING PROCESS
Teak is an exotic tropical wood that is both beautiful and resilient. Sometimes due to a sudden change of weather your teak may feel a bit rough in the beginning while adjusting to a new environment. Although it may feel a bit rough, teak has enough natural oil inside to keep it protected. Simply put, rough teak is only a cosmetic issue, not a maintenance concern. The more the board is used, the more it will settle in.

If you prefer a completely smooth surface, we advise hand sanding your teak with very fine sandpaper (220-320 grit). Do not use a sanding machine, as it will damage the surface. After sanding, wash it with soapy water and oil your board. Thank you and enjoy your beautiful board!
