A Happy Accident
Durante años he trabajado como cartero para el USPS. Dicho esto, estoy de pie, ¡¡MUCHO!! He tenido cirugías en ambos pies, lo que requiere sentarme, y sentarme, y sentarme mientras me recupero. Siempre me ha encantado reutilizar y crear cosas para mi hogar y aquellos que me importan, lo que fue inculcado por mis padres. Son tan creativos y talentosos y me mostraron cómo encontrar mi propia manera de arreglar o crear las cosas que quiero en lugar de salir corriendo a comprarlo de inmediato.
Una Navidad, mientras estaba fuera del trabajo, mi familia decidió hacer un intercambio de regalos hecho a mano en lugar de comprar regalos comprados en la tienda el uno para el otro. Siempre vi a mi hija cargando con una bolsa de cámara negra cuadrada Y su bolso, así que pensé que le haría una bolsa linda y multiusos para que pudiera llevar su equipo de manera segura y con estilo, todo en una sola bolsa. También hice uno para un amigo. ¡Fueron un éxito! Y así, con el tiempo en mis manos y mi personalidad tipo A que no funciona bien con estar inactivo, decidí hacer algunos más y enumerarlos en Etsy. ¡Se vendieron tan rápido como pude completarlos y nació una tienda!
Me encantan los mensajes que llegan y ayudar a las personas a expresar su estilo personal con un color o patrón de tela para dar su propio giro único a una bolsa.
Después de más de 6 años nunca me he cansado de esta empresa. Todavía me emociona cada persona que compra un ShutterTote. ¡¡Todos ustedes son una razón por la que hago mi pequeño baile feliz todos los días!!
For years I have worked as a mail carrier for the USPS. That being said I am on my feet-a LOT!! I have had surgeries on both of my feet which requires sitting, and sitting, and sitting while recuperating. I have always had a love of repurposing and creating things for my home and those I care about which was instilled by my parents. They are so creative and talented and showed me how to find my own way to fix or create the things that I want instead of running out to purchase it right away.
One Christmas while off work my family decided to do a hand made gift exchange rather than buy store bought gifts for each other. I always saw my daughter lugging around a boxy black camera bag AND her purse and so I thought I would make her a cute and multi purpose bag that she could carry her equipment safely and with style all in one bag. I also made one for a friend. They were a hit! And so with time on my hands and my type A personality that doesn't do well with being inactive I decided to make a few more and list them on Etsy. They sold as fast as I could complete them and a shop was born!
I love the messages that come in and helping people express their personal style with a color or fabric pattern to put their own unique spin on a bag.
After 6 plus years I have never tired of this venture. I still get a thrill with every person who purchases a ShutterTote. You all are a reason that I do my little happy dance each day!!
