Each piece starts with a concept, a careful drawing, and many hours of carving a model in hard wax.
Ancient art never goes out of style.
My inspiration stems from a lifelong fascination with ancient cultures and their myths and symbols, as well as the endless beauty and variety of the natural world. I’m particularly drawn to motifs that aren’t as well known—the more esoteric, the better. I believe that jewelry is more than adornment; it is a means of self-expression, and each design finds new meaning in the mind and heart of its own wearer.
I fell in love with the ancient method of lost wax casting right from my earliest casting experiments. Each piece I make starts with research, sketches, and a careful drawing; then I carve an original model from hard wax or fabricate it using traditional metalsmithing techniques. Mold-making techniques allow me to make wax copies of the original model, which are invested, burnt out, and cast in bronze or sterling silver. Then it’s time for adding fabricated findings, oxidizing or patination, and finishing. I work in small batches, usually just a few pieces at a time, to ensure that each piece receives my full care and attention.
I also work with gemstones and metal fabrication techniques to create unique and limited-production jewelry, which you can see at my other Etsy shop, SilverspotMetalworks.
Thanks so much for visiting, and I hope you’ll enjoy browsing my shop!
