Our Story
I originally opened Simple Joys At Home back in 2013, at 16 years old, and sold a variety of crocheted baby items, and a handful of crocheted coasters. In late 2017, my life was crazy, and I decided that running a business wasn't my top priority in that season, so I took down all my listings, thinking that I'd probably put them back up and continue business as usual in a few months...
Fast forward to Summer of 2020, and that I'd still never put the listings back up. I barely even crocheted anymore. A ton of other things had changed in my life during that time frame (including getting married!) and my focus had really shifted as far as what I wanted to make and share with others.
Simple Joys At Home as you see it now, was born out my desire to make wood slice ornaments for my and my husband's first Christmas tree, and, down the road, make various other decorations for our home. When I made those first ornaments, I realized that others might be interested in purchasing them for their trees, and I shared some of my designs on my personal Facebook page. They were definitely a hit among my friends, and when COVID - 19 hit and I made an ornament with a picture of toilet paper on it, I had multiple people reaching out and wanting to purchase their own. At that point it was clear that there was a market for what I was making, and that it was time to act on that opportunity.
My husband and I have always known that we wanted to work from home in some capacity, so reopening Simple Joys At Home with a totally new brand and feel is just the first step in reaching that dream.
