Frequently asked questions

Is this real coding or just playing video games?

YES. This is real world coding. We use the medium of computer games to teach kids how to code their own games, mods, and projects.

Do you offer live chat support?

Absolutely. We offer live chat support as well as 1 on 1 live weekly webinars. We are here to help your child succeed.

Does my child need to know how to type?

This depends. If your child is taking any of the courses that are for age 11+ then the answer is YES. 15wpm is acceptable. If they're are doing the ages 8+ courses then they will only be doing dragging and dropping or scripting commands, which typing is not required. However, we do strongly encourage to take our Keyboarding Space Mission - Learn to Type course that is offered on our website. It is a great place to start.

Is Scratch really coding?

Scratch is a great course for those parents to see if their kid may like coding. It is called, "block coding" where your child drags blocks of code into spaces and then see those images appear to create games. It is dragging and dropping with the mouse and very useful for learning the computer logic behind real world computer programming.

Is Roblox real coding or just video gaming?

Roblox has its own coding language called, “LUA” and it is used in video game development. Roblox’s programming language is used in World of Warcraft, CRYENGINE, Warframe and networks like CISCO systems, ModSecurity and more. So YES kids should learn it!

How will learning to code a game help my child?

Learning how to code a game teaches students all the great computer logic such as variables, conditions, loops, arrays, and objects in a very engaging flow. These concepts are the foundation of coding and do not change as they move into coding a database or some software program.

Games allow students to be creative quickly while learning these concepts. To become a good coder it takes planning and coding out your own ideas. By using games, students come up with ideas very quickly allowing them to go through the full creative coding experience.
