Boys, Boys, Everywhere Boys...
At least it seemed like it at the time. All our family had were little boys (lots of them) and finding cute clothes and gifts for them was just not as fun as getting gifts for the little girls that other people were having. Simply Sublime Baby was born out of my need to find cute, creative baby clothes for boys.
I have been creative all of my life, but making a living at it for the past 10 years has been a dream come true. My graphic design experience is life learned and has been my biggest passion ever since I purchased my very first computer nearly 25 years ago.
I am one of those people who literally woke up one morning and knew that I could make a living off of my creativity. I was never an expert at any one craft, but I had the desire and determination to learn, master and succeed at whatever I chose to do. After building on my love of design and months of research I created a line of special occasion personalized gifts.
I taught myself how to build a website from scratch and started marketing and selling them on my own website almost 10 years ago. My personalized products have been shipped worldwide and have even been featured on the Today Show on two separate occasions.
After the birth of my two grandsons a few years ago, my new obsession was designing gifts and decor for them. I decided to open my Etsy shop in June of 2011 purely for the love of designing children's clothing and gifts. The reception has been great and I now sell my children's items in boutiques and online stores all over the US and in several other countries as well.
Etsy has been the perfect venue for my children's line as it allows me to focus more on the creative side of my business. I also love coming up with custom designs for customers. In fact, many of the designs I now offer where originally inspired by their suggestions.
Running two businesses has kept me pretty busy and I couldn't do it without the help of my youngest daughter Rachel and my brother-in-law Jon.
Rachel is my part-time help and fills in with whatever chore that needs to be done whether it's counting inventory, pressing, folding or running errands for me. I don't know what I'll do when she goes back to college!
Jon is the one who takes care of the paperwork and bookkeeping for me. I hate paperwork and bookkeeping. A lot. He also does all of the shipping and fields all of my phone calls for me. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have any time for designing, testing new product ideas and production. Thank you Jon!
I get asked a lot as to the origin of the name Simply Sublime. For me, it's a perfect compilation of both the name of the digital printing process I use as well as the sublimely beautiful colors I am able to achieve.
I love running my own business and being my own boss. I can't imagine doing anything else with my life, other than spending time with my family, and our newest addition, Lily. ...Yep, a little girl:-)
