Cool Furniture and Gifts made from broken skateboards
At Deckstool, we salvage broken skateboards and turn them into high-quality furniture and gift items. Fueled by a passion for skateboarding and good (green) design, our goal is to build a responsible, sustainable business in the USA.
It all began when, for fun, my brother Adam, asked me to help him make him a chair using a stack of his broken skate decks. Inspired by the consistent way the boards were broken, we had the idea for the original skateboard stool and soon the seed for an entire business was planted.
Broken skateboards are consistent and strong, yet at the same time every one is unique and “damaged.” Our products are engineered to work with typical skateboard breakage and maximize the useable material. Product forms are derived from the gentle curves of the molded maple plywood and the surfaces showcase the beauty of the scraped and scarred artwork. All Deckstool products are one-of-a-kind. We use modern woodworking techniques to create precision parts and skilled craftsman to finish them with an artist’s touch.
Through our skateboard buyback program, we partner with skate shops and parks to collect broken boards for recycling and help them raise funds for their cause. The money generated goes to local skatepark projects, charities, or to help support these small skateboard businesses.
