From Wool to Garden Whimsy: My Crafting Story
I've been crafting for as long as I can remember. Summers at my grandma’s house were filled with the gentle rhythm of crochet hooks and knitting needles — that’s where it all began. Later I discovered cross-stitching. With each stitch, my love for handmade grew deeper.
Then came wool. Soft, vibrant, endlessly inspiring. I fell in love with creating wool beads, pumpkins, acorns, even tiny mushrooms. Each piece felt like a little treasure.
After a quiet year of not creating — a time when I’d lost my passion — something bloomed, quite literally. I planted my own flower garden, and with it came a new passion: garden decor. I started crafting rusted metal ornaments that stood proudly as flowers and grasses danced beside them — bringing quiet joy in my garden.
Now, I'm full of inspiration again. I've opened three Etsy shops, each dedicated to a different part of my creative heart: Smika - wool creations, Smika decor - crochet mandalas for the home, and Smika Garden - whimsical garden stakes.
Every item I make is a piece of my story — and I’m so happy to share it with you.
