Some people are comfortable in their own skin...I was always itchy in mine.
Since childhood, I needed special products to keep my skin healthy, to avoid rashes, allergies, outbreaks, eczema, etc. Then I discovered that it was the products themselves doing it. Specifically, it was the stuff they add to the products. Look at the ingredients label of a bar of soap you buy at the store. Can you identify that stuff? Can you even pronounce it? What is Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl? Do you want to rub that onto your skin? Especially the sensitive parts? Me neither! And just for the record, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is not a substance found in nature, but it is found in a huge number of so-called "natural" health and beauty products for sale. We just say NO to Sodium Lauryl anything, Sulfate or not!
The soap you buy in stores is not soap; it is an industrial byproduct. "Big Soap" manufactures soap by adding Fats and Lye in a reaction that produces Soap, Glycerin and Water. Fine so far. But they want big profits, so they remove the glycerin and other things, evaporate the water and sell the debris left over and call it "detergent bar" or something like that. But it is not soap. And using it damages your skin. Then they use the valuable glycerin in other, more expensive, products, like lotions, salves, etc. that they can sell you to heal your skin from the damage caused by their bar soap. It's a great racket, really.
Soo... that's how we came around to making our own soap. We learned the chemistry and sourced the kinds of premium oils, fats and herbal concoctions that work together to make a first-rate product. We do not use any animal fats, lard, tallow, etc. All pure, plant-based oils and fats. We use Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) in the reaction that converts fatty acids to soap, but there is no lye left in the finished product at all. We see to that. We use mostly essential oils for fragrance and use premium paraben- and phthlate-free fragrance oils if we really like something and there is no essential oil available. No one can afford actual Sandalwood or Rose essential oils, for instance, and there is no such thing as a pure Jasmine. We pride ourselves on clean, pure scents and we work hard at that.
We do, however, conduct a lot of animal testing. We are the animals. Yes, we and our family members are the willing soap crash-test dummies. We've tried it all, or we would not be selling it here. We have our favorites, and we might share if asked, but we hope you find your own favorites here in our shop.
