Somewhat Fishy and lots of fun
I am often asked "when did you start drawing?". I really want to be snarky and ask "When did you stop?". Because we all drew when we were kids. Like most of us, I stopped as I got older, and didn't start again until I was well into my 50s. Now I can't imagine not drawing at least a little bit each day. It's my meditation, a way to at the same time relax and be more conscious, if that makes any sense.
It's relaxing to draw because the mind is focused on something outside myself and my everyday problems. But I am also more conscious, because I am fully focused and seeing not only physically with my eyes, but also "feeling the picture" as it emerges from the page.
My drawings are an expression of my desire to make the world happier and more colorful. That's why the fish are smiling (with the exception of Grumpy, who is an incorrigible curmudgeon) and the birdhouses are cheerful as well. I want to give those who take my drawings into their home some extra smiles and a bright spot in their day.
I'm pretty sure I can't create world peace all on my own, but I can create a peaceful world OF my own. And everyone is invited in!
