The Original Leather Sunglasses Strap
The finest adventure-ready goods American hands can craft.
It was on a trip to Nantucket, MA in 2009 for the 38th annual Figawi Sailing Race when inspiration struck. The majority of sailors and visitors to the island were all wearing the same frayed and worn-out neoprene and cotton croakies. The croakie has always been a functional lifestyle accessory but what it provides in function it's alway lacked in style.
Once back to the mainland I began learning the leather craft and was fortunate enough to gain the mentorship of Frank Clegg. Frank has been in the business of crafting heirloom quality leather goods for over 40 years. After countless Saturdays at Frank's, and over the course of nearly two years, the original leather sunglasses strap became a reality. Back in Nantucket for the 40th annual Figawi Race, a long process came full circle. Murray's Toggery Shop, a Nantucket institution, became the first retail store in the country to carry Sounders.
Each product is still individually crafted by hand between time at Frank's in Fall River, MA and Guilford, CT where Sounder was founded. Our mission remains simple: to produce quality goods that support an active lifestyle.
