Spartan Made started in our off-grid trailer. It got a little tight with 2 people and 5 sewing machines! -
We use vintage sewing machines because they’re beautiful and built to last. Two of these are over 100 years old! -
In our storefront studio. We’re not often so serious, but we were going for the old wet-plate photograph look. -
Bicycles are amazing and we spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to attach things to them. -
A life-long doodler, everything begins with a sketch, and all the design and construction details go into the notebook.

A lifelong tinkerer and maker, Doug started Spartan Made in 2017 out of his 1947 Spartan Manor travel trailer. Doug’s favorite materials are waxed canvas, leather, and linen.

Amy has been a partner in Spartan Made since the beginning, lending her creative eye to product development and marketing. With a background in studio art, she is drawn to the colors, movements, and textures of the natural world.

Sara studied textiles and fashion at SUNY Oneonta and has been making high-quality garments and quilting ever since. She lends her extraordinary skills to this business, and Spartan Made is lucky to have her!
