The unique embroidery the heart searches for.. stitches of dreams.
Who We Are?
How did we decide on the name spider stitches? We are inspired by nature’s most splendid artist, the spider, and dedicated our namesake to these marvelous animals in their honor. Spider stitches is two sisters that are both artists and inspired by nature, history and fantasy. We pour lots of love into each item we create and by supporting our store you help a small Texas based women’s business that is focused on helping wildlife, nature and education.
What We Do?
We specialize in embroidered artwork, sew on and iron on patches, wall tapestries, lace ornaments, jewelry and embroidery machine designs. Every design we make is our own and every item we make is made in our shop here in the hill country of Boerne Texas. How do we make a patch?
Our patches are high quality artwork and cost a bit more than most patches. This is because we use high quality fair trade European thread, eco friendly stabilizer, and sew and design all of our own products. It all starts with an idea and a drawing. The artwork must be redrawn in our computer software by hand,
stitch by stitch with computer mouse or tablet. This process can take many hours to complete. Once the design is perfected then it is loaded on to an embroidery machine and the appropriate thread colors selected. Between color matching and sewing this process can take as little as 1 hour for a small design up to as long as half a day for the largest, most complex ones. After the sewing is created then it must be cut off the cloth backing and adhesive applied. Each patch is then cut out by hand. Needless to say we pour a lot of love into our patches
What Do We Support?
We donated over 15% of our sales to wildlife conservation organizations as well as countless hours and patches for fundraisers. Many of these projects do not directly work with spiders but it is the idea that supporting large species will save habitats for our favorite invertebrates and other smaller less charismatic animals.
