Splinteredthought

Mi è sempre piaciuto creare cose... forti nei boschi, sottobicchieri di legno, frecce, ciotole, scatole... Nel 2008 i miei genitori hanno aperto la strada alla casa dei loro sogni. Assumevano solo commercianti che usavano me e i miei fratelli come parte della forza lavoro. Attraverso quel lungo (in realtà, ancora in corso) progetto, ho incontrato molti, molti artigiani meravigliosi, generosi e abili. Mi è stato insegnato: posa di blocchi, intelaiatura in legno, elettrico, idraulico, isolante, cartongesso, costruzione di armadi, solare termico, solare elettrico ... poi c'erano cose che ho imparato da solo: la classificazione e il drenaggio del terreno, la creazione di pavimenti da legname segato grezzo, l'installazione di finiture personalizzate, la verniciatura, l'essere un capo (sono davvero pessimo in questo!) ... Ho scoperto che mi piace molto fare le cose con precisione e fare cose che altre persone non vorrebbero o non potrebbero: intarsi in legno, serrature magnetiche personalizzate, sovrapposizioni in legno, coda di rondine, intagli 3D. Ho imparato molto. Voglio continuare a imparare e crescere finché vivo. Voglio fare cose che piacciano alla gente. Voglio essere in grado di vendere prodotti che amo. Voglio diventare abbastanza bravo da vivere in mezzo al nulla e vendere le mie creazioni ovunque! Nel maggio del 2017 ho aperto il mio negozio Etsy. È stato un ottimo modo per collegare la mia passione per il legno con te, il cliente, ma in realtà non sei solo un cliente per me, sei una persona. Il tuo valore è uguale al mio. Non voglio imbrogliarti o venderti qualcosa che non vuoi. Voglio essere un uomo onesto e trattarti come se fossi un mio amico. Immagino che questa sia la mia storia.

I have always enjoyed creating things... forts in the woods, wood coasters, arrows, bowls, boxes... In 2008 my parents broke ground on their dream house. They only hired tradesmen who would use me and my brothers as part of the labor force. Through that long (actually, still ongoing) project, I met many, many wonderful, generous and skilled craftsmen. I was taught: block laying, wood framing, electrical, plumbing, insulating, drywall, cabinet building, solar thermal, solar electric... then there were things that I got to learn for myself: land grading and drainage, creating flooring from rough sawn lumber, installing custom trim, painting, being a boss (I'm really bad at that!)... I found that I really enjoy doing things precisely and doing things that other people wouldn't or couldn't: wood inlays, custom magnetic locks, wood overlay, dovetails, 3D carvings. I learned a lot. I want to continue to learn and grow as long as I live. I want to make things that people enjoy. I want to be able to sell products that I love. I want to become good enough to live in the middle of nowhere and sell my creations everywhere! In May of 2017 I opened my Etsy shop. It has been a great way to connect my passion for wood with you, the customer, but you aren't really just a customer to me, you are a person. Your value is the same as mine. I don't want to cheat you or sell you something that you don't want. I want to be a honest man and to treat you like you were a friend of mine. I guess that's my story.
