Spring Modern was founded in 2013 by Industrial Designer Todd Herlitz. Our aim is to design & build high-quality, sustainable products for the home. Using cutting-edge technologies like 3D printing and CNC milling, we manufacture everything ourselves right here in Illinois. Our materials are carefully selected with environmental impact in mind: Recycled HDPE panels made from milk jugs, 3D printing material made from renewable resources like cornstarch or sugar cane, and real USA-grown hardwoods like Cedar & Walnut. We are a small family business run out of our home with the goal of having a positive impact on people through great design.

This shop is a small business that I run outside of my full-time job as Design Director for a major children' brand in Chicago. I also have a family with two kids and play drums in a local rock band. In the limited time left over, I aim to design, build, and sell beautifully designed functional objects for the home. I've been building furniture for over 10 years on a piece-by-piece basis, but with Spring Modern, we are able to do short runs of products to reach more people.
