Quilts & Other Modern Day Heirlooms
I started quilting over 20 years ago, making baby quilts for my little ones, and to sell at craft shows and local shops. While in the middle of making my daughter’s graduation quilt in 2003, my old Kenmore sewing machine finally died, so I ran out and bought a new Bernina, and then went looking for some sewing work to pay for it! I started working at a local quilt shop, where I began teaching in 2004, and found that I love to teach beginners new techniques and being a part of starting them in their quilting journey. Designing for classes and family related projects prompted a branching out into pattern publishing, and Spring Water Designs was born. My designs started appearing in magazines in early 2009, and many publications followed.
In 2012 my husband and I started selling Handi Quilter long arm machines (I'm Sales and Training & He's the Tech guy), and have quickly outgrew my home studio. So the next chapter of my quilting journey was seeing us move Spring Water Designs out to a public location at 9691 Gerwig Lane, Columbia Maryland 21046. I still enjoy making custom quilts and sharing the simple joys of handmade items. I hope you can come and visit our shop when traveling in the Mid Atlantic area!
