I'm a slow living fan!
Quilting is a SLOW process that just can't be rushed - each quilted project takes days to come together... Gathering fabrics, choosing the colour-ways, then cutting them down to the right sized pieces, planing their placement and sewing them all together, basting the wadding, quilting all over the layers, then binding the edges or putting together the finished piece. This steady, staged process feels like a protest against fast fashion and 'disposable' culture.
Using reclaimed & vintage fabric for some of the quilts feels right too; history gets sewn in to add an extra layer of stories to each piece, ready to accumulate more love and tales over time.
The quilts are intended to be used and loved and cared for, and passed down to new generations: definitely heirloom pieces.
I hope my quilts give you a reason to take some time for yourself, to stop for a while and read or daydream, and that you feel a layer of protective cosiness when you're wrapped up in them.
