An Illustrator's Story

Art has always had a big part of my life, constantly doodling and sketching since I was young. I've explored many different mediums but I love digital art best with my tablet and painter programs. I love everything cute, whimsical, and most obviously Japanese Anime. Not to mention I'm a geek for a lot of other things as well... I began selling in the artist alley in 2006 when my art was chosen for the con guide and they gave me an artist table and never looked back. I can always be found online and I select a few Florida conventions to attend a year.

On a different side of things, besides some murals and a few illustration jobs, I worked three years at Busch Gardens, Florida drawing caricatures. It was a great and fun experience and great art skill to learn. After leaving I wanted to offer them online and Etsy turned out to be the perfect outlet. In the years since I've enjoyed adapting caricatures to my own unique style.

After many years of only offering caricatures through StarInMyPocket, I gradually built my Etsy store so that it better represents me, my art, and all the many and little things I have to offer. I love meeting everyone in the artist alley and I appreciate that Etsy has some of that community feel. <3

Welcome to StarInMyPocket. My name is Sarah, though I am commonly known as Star, and all artwork available in this store has been personally made by myself. My style is predominately anime and manga inspired.. For years I have sold my artwork as prints and small merchandise at conventions and now hope this store will allow more and more people to find and purchase my work. Etsy is a wonderful and ideal place for this online endeavor.

Fantasy, whimsical scenes, cute chibi art, and anime are my favorite subjects. The majority of my artwork is digitial painted and available as prints or small items. I may occasionally list original art for sale or provide custom art such as for caricatures or small chibi portraits. If you have any questions or inquiries about my art or items available, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Frequently asked questions
Can you do "fill in blank" character?

As a fan of many things, I create art for characters and series I love - and I still never have time for all my favorites (cries inwardly). You are welcome to suggest a series or characters but you can always commission a traditionally drawn chibi art or keychains from me for any character you like! Commissions are available under Custom Art section of my shop.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If marked as gift, I will add a simple Gift Note that they are receiving a gift through a special someone through my shop. You can also provide a custom note I can write on the back!

If you are mailing your gift directly to the recipient and wish to make it extra special, you can upgrade for a golden star gift wrapping for Sketchbooks or prints. For smaller items I recommend my gift set option which already come festively wrapped ★

What are your favorite art tools?

My art programs of choice have always been between Corel Painter and Photoshop. I recently upgraded to a cintiq tablet but still love my trusty Intuos 4. For traditional art, I use a mix of multiliner pens, prismacolor and copic markers, colored pencils, and white gel pen.
